Britannia International School

Britannia International School (BIS) is a young school that has opened with a vision to provide high quality education to the international community in Guangzhou. We are an affordable choice for families from 32 different countries. We operate as a non-profit member school of the larger Canadian International Educational Organisation (CIEO). As such we benefit from the security and guidance of an established organisation, whilst following our own vision to create an innovative school that champions STEAM and creativity. Currently, our classes range from Nursery to UK year 9, September 2020 will see us open the IGCSE year 10 and we will continue to grow each year to offer A’ levels by 2022. Our teachers deliver the National Curriculum for England and Wales and follow Cambridge Assessment framework in Primary and Secondary. We are currently awaiting accreditation from Cambridge Assessment to begin offering IGCSE options from 2020.

BIS is located on Jinshazhou Island in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. We are very fortunate to be a truly international school, as our students and teachers come from many different countries, our diversity is something we celebrate. The school campus includes a Music and Dance facility, Library, Art room, STEAM/idea lab, football pitch as well as open space areas for play and learning. All classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards and our teachers have a generous budget for resources.

For teachers, BIS offers an opportunity to join a small community where you will make difference. We are looking for forward thinking teachers who can bring ideas and enthusiasm to help our school grow.

Following the core idea of STEAM, to integrate science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths, we welcome applications from teachers with backgrounds in any of these subjects or Design Technology. At BIS we believe a successful STEAM program combines elements of theory from each of these subjects areas in an environment of open and practical exploration. We are interested in Maker education or tinkering as well as real-world problem solving. We are open minded about where our STEAM curriculum might lead and so we are looking for a teacher with a let’s-get-moving attitude!
