Job overview

‘Think Differently’ to inspire young people to overcome all barriers and achieve their dreams. This is the Vision Statement of Think Differently Education Trust (TDET).

  • Do you want to have a positive impact on some of the most vulnerable children’s lives in Birmingham?

  • Do you want to work in an organisation that recognises the benefits of a good work/life balance for its workforce?

  • Do you want to work in an organisation that invests heavily in CPD and allocates additional training days to develop its staff?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to all these questions, join our team!

This is a particularly exciting time to join James Brindley, the founding school of the newly established Think Differently Education Trust. This marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for our community, opening up fresh opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and professional growth across Birmingham. By joining us now, you’ll be part of shaping a progressive trust from the ground up – helping to drive meaningful change for our young people while developing your own career in a supportive and ambitious environment.

If you are a well-organised and resilient professional who has high expectations and a positive mindset, this could be the job for you.

We are seeking a flexible individual to join our Short-Term Provision Team. Working with primary and secondary-aged young people who are unable to attend school for medical reasons, you will play a key role in ensuring they do not fall behind and have gaps in their knowledge. The job involves actively supporting and facilitating work set by the home schools or delivering the Academy’s established curriculum. This will be a blend of face-to-face and online sessions, so excellent IT skills are essential. You will need to have at least a GCSE 4–9 (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Due to the nature of the post, a current, valid driving licence and car access are also essential.

Contract/Hours: 19.5 hours per week, term-time only.

Location: Hospitals, home teaching; you may be required to work at any other James Brindley Centres.

Salary: Grade 3, SCP 20, £27,254 pro rata to SCP 28, £33,699 pro rata + TA SEN £1,723 pro rata.

The Think Differently Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please be aware that this post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check, and any offer of employment is made conditional of this. You will also be required to register and pay for the DBS update service and ensure that documentary evidence is produced to ensure annual compliance and updates. You will also be required to provide written consent for the employer to access this information at any time.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), and therefore, the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
