We have a rare and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to share your expertise in Science across a group of local schools within The Sigma Trust.

As the Strategic Lead for Science you will:

  • Further improve standards within Science across The Sigma Trust;
  • Ensure that our vision that “best practice becomes shared practice” is fully evident within all science teams;
  • Ensure consistency across the Trust in the implementation of agreed policies and procedures;
  • Create opportunities for joint working through a planned programme of events.

This appointment seeks to build on our growing team of Strategic Leads who work across all of our academies providing support and challenge as required for one or two days per week. The remaining time will be spent teaching within the host school. Initially this will be at Clacton County High School, but opportunities to be based in other schools may occur in the future. 

You will support and advise subject leaders and senior staff with an initial focus on KS3 and GCSE. The ability to do the same at A Level would be an advantage. The role will require a practitioner with a diverse skillset, exceptional knowledge of curriculum frameworks and first-rate leadership skills. All secondary academies in the Trust are agreeing common specifications for KS4 and assessment frameworks. The team of Strategic Leads is line managed by the Strategic Development Officer for the Trust.

The Sigma Trust is a local partnership of twelve academies in North East Essex, formally established in September 2016. The Trust currently consists of eight secondary schools, one primary, two junior schools and an infant and nursery school.

All schools are geographically close enough to provide the necessary support and challenge to take all academies to the next level.
