About the Student Advisor Role:

The role of Student Advisor provides central support for a range of primary student related activities and queries relating to a student’s day to day life at college. But also providing a level of support in coordinating the student studies, adding value to the Learner journey and enhancing the student experience.

As a Student Advisor you will be responsible for a number of reception/campus duties such as meeting and greeting applicants, Students and clients and ensuring that high levels of Customer service are being provided within the Campuses at all times. The role requires you to be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work, with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines and to work under your own initiative or part of a team when required.

Hours of work: 40 Hours a week – spread over 5 days (Monday – Sunday) on a rota basis

Key Duties and Responsibilities of our Student Advisor:

  • Providing outstanding advice, guidance and support for existing students and visitors to the campus, both verbal and written
  • Enroll students on the course, conduct student data/information checks during the enrolment, and participate in the induction duties after each intake. Data entry/check on the student management system- SITS from Tribal
  • Issuance of ID cards and letters to students
  • Maintaining and improving overall student satisfaction. Participate in the promotion of National student survey, course feedbacks and other surveys
  • Ensuring all students are equipped with the correct information relevant to their chosen course i.e. timetables, class changes, awarding body requirements etc.
  • Providing written and verbal advice and guidance to prospective and successful students
  • Assisting students with Student Finance applications – tuition fees, maintenance loans and grants. Help the students to process change of circumstances on the application with SLC
  • To be a point of contact for reporting student absences. Updating SITS accordingly and advising relevant departments as necessary of absences in line with college procedures and policies
  • Address any complaints that come to reception and escalate that to the Assistant campus Manager/campus Manger
  • Recording, monitoring and tracking student attendance and contacting students regarding attendance when required. Authorise student absences on the system and approve mitigating circumstances
  • Assisting the Assistant Campus manager/Campus Manager with the overall smooth running of the campus ensuring procedures and policies are adhered to
  • Taking part in events as required by Assistant Campus manager/Campus Manager. Fulfilling Health and Safety and Fire Safety responsibilities.

  • Experience working within a customer focused environment
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • The ability to effectively communicate at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
