Student Finance and Welfare Advisor – 30 Hours per week

The College of North West London is part of the United College Group which was formed as result of a merger between College of North West London and City of Westminster College We are committed to providing a high quality of teaching and learning.   

The Student Finance and Welfare Advisor post is a key part of the College’s Student Engagement Team supporting students to access financial support.  The financial support available should be targeted to support students to attend and achieve their programme of study.  

You will work with students on a 1:1 basis providing information, advice and guidance on the financial support options they have, and supporting them to complete the application process.    You will be responsible for leading/supporting the delivery of college-wide student finance and welfare activities including induction activities, group information sessions and be responsible for assessing and processing financial awards for students.  You will work closely with support staff as well as teachers to ensure that financial support is available to students that require it, and targeted effectively.  

You will need to have an excellent understanding of current financial support mechanisms in FE, or a willingness to develop your knowledge within this area.  The successful candidate will be required to have well developed communication skills enabling them to build confidence and rapport with a range of stakeholders.  An analytical approach coupled with a willingness to adopt creative and new approaches to delivering support will be essential requirements of success.  

The post-holder will work flexibly with the broader student support teams to meet the broader division outcomes.  You will have a passion for working with young people as well as excellent communication and organisational skills.  You must have good IT and numeracy skills, be prepared to work flexibly, have the ability to work on your own initiative and with the minimum of direct supervision  We currently offer excellent benefits, 30 days paid annual leave per year plus public holidays, a Occupational salary pension plan and support with your further education and career development.  Interested in finding out more?
