Job overview

Concord College is England’s premier co-educational international boarding school set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, with 600 students aged 13-18. With over 40 nationalities represented amongst our students, we enjoy a wonderfully diverse environment with a strong community feel and decency, trust and respect at our core. Academic achievement at Concord College is excellent and over the last two academic years, students have achieved an average of 82% A*/A at GCSE and 80% A*/A at A level. We are also delighted that over 80 students have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge between 2015 and 2018.

The role will include the management and development of Concord’s programme of careers advice and the development of opportunities for Concordians to take up work experience and vocational placements. In addition to the careers role in Main Term, the Student Futures Officer will plan and develop the University Preparation Summer Courses during the course of the year and then run the courses in July and August.

The successful candidate will be a graduate from a top UK or overseas university with an academic profile that is compatible with the ambitious and elaborate aspirations of Concord students. Previous experience of working with young people is not essential however it is vital that the post-holder has the drive to work with academically able students, build positive rapport and achieve successful outcomes in term of their careers progression. Ideally applicants will have a proven ability to manage projects independently, preferably in an educational environment; the experience to demonstrate a clear understanding of what is required to gain successful entry into Oxbridge and other top Russell Group universities and experience of working with a range of careers agencies and the provision they offer to schools.

Normal hours of work will be 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), although flexibility is required as there may be some evening/weekend working due to the nature of the role. In addition to a highly competitive salary, other benefits include lunch in our dining room, a defined contribution pension scheme, private health insurance, income protection and life assurance schemes and a childcare voucher scheme.

Further information and application forms are available either on our website: www.concordcollegeuk.com, or from our HR Officer, Miss Nicola Fox: n.fox@concordcollege.org.uk Tel. 01694 731631.

Closing date - midday Thursday 2 August 2018.

Please note, CVs will only be accepted if submitted with a fully completed and detailed application form.
