We have recently been accepted into the Gazelle Colleges Group and this is fundamental to our strategic ambition to be an Enterprising College.

The Department of Learner Experience is crucial to our future development and plays a vital role in the College’s ability to respond to local and regional business needs whilst serving the community we are so proudly a part of.

Job Title: Student Manager – fixed term until 31.07.17
Post Ref: POSN3087
Status – Business Support

Hours: 37 hours per week over 40 weeks. (dates to be clarified upon start date)

In 2016/17, Preston’s College will be making further advancements to the way in which pastoral support is delivered to our learners. By investing in a team of Student Managers, reporting to a Senior Student Manager, the successful individuals will be responsible for supporting, monitoring and reporting on the learner journey, through the delivery of universal support, provision of workshops, regular one to one meetings, SMART target setting, production of formal progress reviews and liaison with all interested parties, to ensure high levels of retention, attendance, achievement and progression.

Responsible for the coordination of personalised packages of support, you will provide timely and appropriate interventions, ensuring learners are encouraged to access College support services as appropriate. You will also be required to monitor learner attendance and achievement, ensure fulfilment of programmes of study requiremetns, record all progression outcomes and ensure students who are ‘at risk’ are identified early and that appropriate timely interventions are taken. Student Managers will need to ensure that relevant information on students with special educational needs and disabilities is shared with appropriate curriculum staff, monitoring the embedding of tutor adjustments within the classroom setting and contributing fully to the support for High Needs students. As with all staff, Student Managers are expected to champion the concept of whole college inclusion, promoting the use of assistive technology to foster independence.

We are looking for experienced, driven, highly motivated individuals who have the confidence and determination to change students’ lives. The ideal candidates will be skilled in both one to one delivery of coaching, motivational dialogue and target setting. The role demands a high level of organisational planning and the capacity to respond quickly to changing priorities. Working across the organisation, the successful candidates will need to have energy, enthusiasm and the drive and determination to help all learners enjoy positive outcomes. The success of the team you will be part of will be judged through the key outcomes of improved value added and progression, improving retention and success rates and the quality of the wider student experience.

If you feel that we are the College for you and that you are the person we require, we would welcome your application.
