About the role: 

King Alfred’s Academy, part of the Vale Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a Student Manager to be part of our highly effective and dedicated pastoral and student support team. This post is pivotal in supporting the Leadership team of King Alfred’s Academy to deliver the very best quality pastoral care and student support to a year group throughout their time at King Alfred’s. The role is wide ranging and requires the successful individual to work as part of a team but to also demonstrate autonomy. This is an exciting opportunity for a colleague to work with and have a positive impact on the students of our Academy. The role is likely to based at KS3, but could be a KS4 post depending on the particular skills and experience of the successful candidate

The post holder will need to develop effective working relationships with those students they support and their parents as well as the wider school community. The successful applicant will be a role model and advocate for their student and be motivated to do the very best for them.

What we are looking for:

The successful applicant will have:

• Previous experience working within a school setting

• Empathy and compassion when dealing with a range of circumstances

• Determination to support our student and their families 

• Knowledge and understanding of using school information management systems

• Sound IT skills, competent using a range of Microsoft programmes and databases 

• Effective written and verbal communication skill. 

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to remain calm when juggling priorities 

• Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders

• Capacity and willingness to work as part of an extended pastoral team

About King Alfred's Academy

King Alfred’s Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Wantage, Oxfordshire. It is an academy converter supported by Vale Academy Trust, a South Oxfordshire multi-academy trust that supports eight other schools in the area.

A larger than average secondary school, King Alfred’s provides 2,205 places for students between the ages of 11 and 18 when fully subscribed. Current number on roll is 1700. The school converted to academy status in August 2011.
