Job overview

Specific duties of Student Services apprentice (subject to change)

  • Monitoring learner attendance and punctuality
  • Contacting Parents and carers regarding attendance & punctuality
  • Administration duties as directed by the Student Services manager
  • Progression tracking of learners once they leave
  • Student welfare and IAG
  • Tracking internal progression inc High Needs
  • Tracking learners with health issues
  • Pastoral support
  • Breakfast club
  • Certificates / predicted grades letters for showcase event
  • Tracking of engagement with student services / issue / outcome

Student Services Team

  • To work with the student services manager to ensure the attendance of the learners is monitored and actioned with smart targets for learners.
  • To provide advice and guidance to learners who visit the student services hub as required. Sign posting the students to internal and external organisations as required.
  • To ensure that the Student services hub is always neat and tidy and well stocked with information.
  • To be proactive in researching activities and support that meets the students interests and needs. Input into the calendar of events for the year and take an active part in the planning of events held by the student services department.

BCT Targets

You are expected to support BCT with attendance and punctuality monitoring, to ensure the following outcomes for each cohort:

  • Punctuality 95%
  • Attendance 90%
  • Retention 85%

Accreditation and assessment

  • Invigilate for learners sitting exams in accordance with JCQ requirements

Salary and days of work

  • 35 hours per week
  • 5 days per week – Monday – Friday
  • 52 weeks per annum (Full Time)
  • Annual Leave – 22 days+ 8 bank holiday days
  • Salary is £21,000 per annum
  • Start Date: 21st August 2023

This is fixed term maternity contract for 1 yearhowever we reserve the right to review the length of the contract in line with the maternity dates issued by the substantive post holder.

We welcome applications from industry professionals entering teaching via the full teaching qualification with support funded by the Taking Teaching Further scheme. This will allow you 6 months of reduced timetable for training and support whilst receiving full pay and cover all qualification costs over the two years of study.
