Salary scale: E 4-6 £18,933 - £19,698 FTE, Grade E, 4, £13,125 Pro Rata

30 hours per week, Term time only – 39 weeks

A vacancy has arisen for a Student Support Assistant based at George Eliot Academy.


The successful candidate will:  

  • Work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff, to undertake work, care and support programmes, to enable access to learning for students    
  • Assist the teacher in the management of students and the classroom    
  • Can relate well to children and adults    
  • Good communication skills:    
  • Have some experience of working effectively with a range of professionals to promote children’s/young people’s learning or welfare    
  • Experience of undertaking a range of clerical duties    
  • GCSE English & Maths

George Eliot is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. A smaller than average-sized secondary school, George Eliot will provide 950 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The George Eliot High School opened in September 1961, set up as a new provision for the housing developments being built in the Nuneaton area. The school has expanded in size several times since then to accommodate its growing pupil numbers, most notably in 2002 when two new buildings were opened.
