We are seeking a proactive and highly organised EAL and SEND Lead to assume a key leadership role in overseeing the comprehensive provision for students with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) across both the Primary and Secondary phases. This is a key leadership opportunity to shape and enhance our student support services. Your dedication will directly contribute to the success and well-being of these students. The role will involve collaborative work with a dedicated team comprising Primary and Secondary Student Support Specialists. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive student services team.


General Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement support plans for EAL and SEND students in collaboration with teachers and the learning support team.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students receiving additional support and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Liaise with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and provide guidance on additional resources.
  • Work with external agencies to access resources and support services available for EAL and SEND students.
  • Train teaching staff on best practices for supporting EAL and SEND students in the classroom.
  • Organise workshops and training sessions for staff on inclusion strategies and cultural competency.
  • Oversee the preparation of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure they are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage the SEND and EAL provision across the school.
  • Monitor the SEND and EAL student lists.
  • Supervise and teach SEND/EAL students.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with EAL and SEND students in an educational setting - Primary and/or Secondary phases.
  • Strong understanding of educational needs relating to special needs and disability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to assess individual student needs and adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
