Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, dedicated, and highly organised individual to join our pastoral team in this key role. As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will work closely under the guidance of the Student Support Services Manager to support safeguarding practices across the school. You will also coordinate support for Looked-After and Previously Looked-After Children, ensuring they receive the pastoral and educational care needed to thrive. We deliver child-centred, individually tailored education because of our small size and unique position in our community. This family ethos surrounds all who work and study here, creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. Our recent Ofsted inspection described us as “a small school with a big heart" and commented on the fact that “senior leaders have high aspirations for every pupil and have created an ambitious curriculum to meet these high expectations.”

Further information and an Applicant Information Pack can be found on our website www.stmartins3-16.org/school-information/job-vacancies/

The closing date for receipt of applications is 3 p.m. Thursday 17th July, but interviews will be scheduled upon receipt and review of a sufficient number of applications

St Martins School, is part of The 3-18 Education Trust which is currently made up of nine schools and derives its name from the age range of the pupils and students who attend those schools. We have an inclusive ethos, defined by age and we recognise that education is a continuous process, secured through consistent values and a strong transition (through the key stages).
Our Vision:
To ensure every individual is in a great school.
 Our Mission:
To celebrate the diverse nature, culture and identity of our individual schools, whilst enjoying the benefit of the team, so that each school is reciprocal in their support for one another and achieves together.
 Our Values:
Accomplished: to provide high quality education and training for all
Resilient: to be solution focused and able to intelligently manage challenges
Compassionate: to show care and understanding towards others
Not only do we pursue the important dimension of achieving the best results for each student regardless of their starting point, but we also believe strongly that education is about developing well-rounded individuals who are ready, willing and able to make their contribution to society.

Values and vision

Owing to its relatively small size, St Martins prides itself on being able to focus on students individually. It ensures learners are happy and safe in their environment, providing a supportive and nurturing family ethos. The school values academic and social development. It ensures that all children are treated as unique and celebrated for their differences and strengths. Pupils are provided with a challenging and rewarding curriculum.

The academy works in collaboration with a number of schools in the local community, including Moreton Hall School, which enables students to use their science equipment. It also works with Gobowen, Weston Rhyn and Selattyn schools to deliver a community-focused curriculum to enhance pupils’ learning experiences.

Ofsted report

“Outcomes in the early years are good. Pupils make good progress and are well prepared for the next stage of their education. The headteacher has managed the amalgamation of the two schools very well, bringing together two disparate communities. The school has a strong, unified ethos.”
