Designation: Support Staff Contract

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)

Salary: Sixth Form Support Staff Scale point 22 - 25 £18,311 - £20,255

(Pro rata equivalent is £14,844 - £16,420)

Responsible to: Study Plus Lead

Purpose: To provide a high quality programme of entitlement information, training and support for students, such that they are able to become increasingly independent, well informed, positive and skilled for both study and their future steps.

Key Duties:

 Liaise with relevant teachers, coordinators and managers to ensure appropriate support, monitoring and challenge for defined cohorts of students, through their Study Plus Supervisor

 Monitor quality and completion of own entitlement & support activity.

 Supervise & support defined cohorts of students during independent study time.

 Facilitate the development of students’ independent study skills e.g. revision, planning assignments, proof reading and referencing.

 Provide general learning support or targeted interventions (including literacy & numeracy) to appropriate groups of students to help them to access and improve learning

 Support students to plan and make the most of their programme of study and support progression.

 Support the processes for monitoring and improving student attendance and progress.

 Liaise with subject teachers and support staff as appropriate to the needs of individuals or groups of students to personalise support, information and training as part of study plus activity.

 Maintain and update the study plus room and resources to ensure a productive atmosphere.

 Instil high expectations and ambition in the defined cohorts of students in terms of pursuing academic progress and personal development

 Attend relevant meetings with curriculum and other departments as appropriate.

 Committed to equality, diversity and safeguarding practice with young people and vulnerable adults.

 Contributing to cross college communication and promotional activities.

 Participating in the college staff appraisal programme.

 Other reasonable duties/activities required by the Principal and / or college managers / employees.
