Contract type: Full Time
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience, plus excellent benefits
Contract term: Permanent

As English Subject Advisor to our growing portfolio of Secondary Academies (30+) you will embody our ethos of bringing out ’the best in everyone’. Leading subject specific improvement work, you will support departments to raise standards and improve progress and attainment.

Working collaboratively with Heads of Department and their teams you will make a difference to thousands of students’ lives. Focusing on the quality of teaching and learning from KS3 up to KS5, you will play a vital role in helping departments to build capacity and make sustainable improvements. You will be a key figure in the implementation of a KS3 curriculum based on mastery principles. Carefully diagnosing strengths and weaknesses, you will work closely with subject leaders and teachers to help them follow best practice and enable all learners to achieve.

To join us, you will need proven experience of teaching, coaching, and shaping strategies for improving outcomes in schools at KS3, KS4 and (ideally) KS5. Your outstanding subject knowledge is matched by your passion and enthusiasm for communicating it to others. Committed to driving up standards of achievement, you will bring to the role a passion for your subject and up-to-date curriculum knowledge, twinned with exceptional relationship building and influencing skills.

Our schools have a national reach, from Carlisle in the North to Bognor Regis on the South Coast. Extensive travel will be required although working from home and supporting schools remotely will also be a key requirement of the role. Whilst the need for support in English is greatest for our Northern Secondary Academies, we would welcome applications from outstanding practitioners irrespective of geography and will look at school allocation / workload in the context of the deployment of our wider team.

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our team around the school, our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, a wellbeing programme and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed.
