Job overview

The Governors of Cantonian High School are seeking to appoint a highly effective, energetic and committed professional as Subject Area Leader of Digital Technologies/ICT who will lead the department on its journey to excellence.  The school is looking for an experienced teacher of ICT who can successfully develop Computer Science into the curriculum whilst leading the ICT department and being responsible for the whole-school development and implementation of the Digital Competence Framework.

Cantonian High School is on an exciting journey of improvement; the school is growing rapidly under the direction of the new Headteacher.  The school has invested significantly in its ICT provision; we have a new ICT suite of five classrooms, all with state-of-the-art facilities and a green screen room.  The school is now looking to build on this investment and aims for the right candidate to support the school to becoming the most improved in Cardiff.  The successful applicant will be instrumental in achieving this vision and will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking school that values the professional development of its staff.

Cantonian High School is an English-medium mixed 11-18 comprehensive school with a sixth form.  There are currently approximately 600 pupils on roll; however, numbers are growing and it is the school’s intention to continue this growth over the coming years.  Our school offers excellent standards of care for all, as well as high standards of academic, vocational and sporting attainment.

Pupils’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we aim to do.  We are an inclusive school, and every member of our school community is valued.  We expect the best from each one, and that leads us to achieve overall success in a variety of areas.  Whether pupils are more able and talented, gifted at sports or the arts, or have additional needs, we commit to ensuring the best possible learning journey for each individual, building their capacity to become skilled, life-long learners who are socially aware, healthy, active citizens.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further or visit the school please contact Carol Rees, Headteacher's PA: crees@cardiff.gov.uk
