Job overview

Our aspiration is to be great in all that we do.  Are you a great teacher & leader of English or aspire to be one?  If so, Preston School is the right school for you!

We are a Business & Enterprise Academy that aspires to embody our strapline of ‘Bringing Learning to Life & Life to Learning’ for every student every day. We place a large emphasis on the development of character and personality of our students, alongside a relentless drive for improving progress in all of the subjects that they study.

We aim to be GREAT in everything that we do. Our student body are wonderful to work with and visitors to the school regularly comment upon the great learning environment within the school, personified by the excellent relationships between students and staff.  We firmly believe in the core BASICS that the students are asked to follow, and we recognise that teaching is made easier when students are engaged with their learning - as ours are.

We require a Subject Leader for English to lead the department in the next stage of its development. You will be well-supported by staff, senior leaders and Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership (MNSP) in continuing to improve the quality of teaching & learning & academic outcomes in the department so that English is truly ‘Bringing Learning to Life & Life to Learning’ for all students. The successful candidate will also join the Senior Leadership Team, along with the SLs for Maths & Science, for weekly strategic meetings.

We are looking for a great person with vision and drive to lead and teach in the department. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and talented teacher and innovator who is looking to make an immediate difference in this exciting leadership role. We appreciate the quick turn-around and if you would like to discuss the role with our Principal, Gregg Morrison, please email him on gregg.morrison@prestonschool.co.uk .

Preston School is a highly successful 11-16 Specialist Business and Enterprise Academy in Yeovil, Somerset.

We believe that in order to enable learners to reach their full potential and for their unique talents to be nurtured and developed, there needs to be an on-going partnership and dialogue between home and school that provides the foundation for learning and achievement.

If students are to learn effectively, they need to be healthy, feel safe, and be happy and secure in school; we must all play our part in achieving this. Our objective is to guarantee success for every individual and much of what we do is designed to find the key that unlocks their interests and skills, enabling them to be successful both at Preston School and beyond.
