Tes is supporting the appointment of a passionate Drama leader at a school based in Surrey.

The school wish to find the very best candidate for the role who will inspire and enthuse their students; therefore they are making this role available as either subject leader for Drama suitable for a drama teacher who is ready to step up to subject leadership or, for a candidate with good experience of leading a successful Drama department, as curriculum leader with additional responsibility for wider leadership of the Performing Arts. 

Either role will involve leading and coordinating activities for the Drama Department. The role of curriculum leader for Performing Arts has the additional responsibility of providing support for the subject leader for Music and contributing to the school curriculum development and strategies for coordinating activities for that department.   

The leadership and governors of the school are very supportive of the performing arts and the benefits for young people of an education in these subjects.

The school demonstrate this by;

  • Supporting an admissions policy that makes places available each year for students with an aptitude in Drama or Music.
  • Dedicated weekly curriculum time for Key Stage 3 Drama and Music lessons – we do not use rotations.
  • Provision of well-equipped indoor and outdoor performance spaces.
  • Investment in up to date technical and performance. equipment necessary to deliver the subjects to a high standard.
  • Time in the timetable for staff and students to rehearse productions and performances.
  • Support to allow visits to theatre, performances and workshops for students.

In 2022 91% of students in Drama achieved a 4-9 grade with 30% achieving one of the top 7-9 grades.

The school is situated to the West of London with good rail and road access. Our location means our staff enjoy living in areas such as West and South West London, Surrey and Berkshire making fantastic choices for city, suburban or rural living available.
