The Governors of this outstanding Church of England Academy are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated Subject Leader for RE to help lead the school into the next phase of its development and support both staff and pupils to ‘be the best they can be’. 

The successful candidate will: 

• be an outstanding and dynamic RE teacher with a strong Christian faith

 • have a strong and inspired vision for Church School Education

• be able to maintain and enhance the academic rigour and passion for learning in one of the school’s flagship departments

 • have a proven track record of high expectations, able to motivate and challenge pupils and staff to achieve the highest possible outcomes

 • be willing to take a leading role in supporting the distinctive Christian ethos of the school, for example in supporting the work of the Christian Youth Worker, supporting the worshipping life of the school and helping to enhance links with local parishes and the Diocese.

 • be able to support the Senior Leadership Team in self-evaluation of the school as a church school including preparation for SIAMS inspections.

St Michael's Church of England High School is a co-educational, Church of England, secondary academy based in Chorley, Lancashire, for pupils aged 11-16. As a Church of England Academy within the Diocese of Blackburn, our values are rooted within the Christian faith.

St Michael's was founded in 1964 to provide a Christian education for the young people of Chorley.

"Pupils’ achievement is outstanding. They enter the school with standards that are above average and, by the end of their five years in the school, reach standards that are consistently and exceptionally high and make outstanding progress. The gap between girls’ and boys’ achievement is much narrower than that found nationally and there is no significant difference in the achievement of those who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities or of the very few pupils who speak English as an additional language."
