This is an excellent opportunity for a bright and innovative individual to take on the role of key Subject Leader for Music. Music is part of our Performing Arts department which is a growing department, with friendly and supportive colleagues. We are determined to achieve excellent outcomes and to embed a love of creativity with all our young people. If you have a passion for demonstrating the wonders of performing arts to young people, and a commitment to work with all ages and abilities, we would like to hear from you.

 

The successful applicant will be a highly committed, motivated and passionate teacher who can lead by example. This is a strategic post that offers opportunities to work with the Curriculum Leader to develop performing arts provision, including shaping the curriculum so that students are motivated to fulfil and exceed their potential. We are also looking for a candidate who will maintain a relentless focus on high quality of teaching and learning to achieve outstanding outcomes. There are lots of opportunity within this role and across the school to develop your professional profile and experiences.

Caterham High School is a community school at the heart of the local neighbourhood. We provide a haven in which our children feel safe, valued and happy. Our school serves a richly diverse area of East London, with many ethnic groups and languages represented. Each child is important and we do our utmost to ensure that each student is given every opportunity to learn and succeed. Our students are well behaved, polite and friendly. We enjoy excellent relationships between students and staff.

 

We provide a rich and diverse curriculum at KS3, with students making choices from a wide range of options at KS4. We have recently improved our KS5 curriculum offer. There are good opportunities for staff to teach in all three key stages.

 

Caterham High School is a friendly and welcoming environment for staff. We have good facilities for all subjects. Staff have free access to our gym, use of our swimming pool and free parking. We value our staff through our Well Being Charter and support leadership development. We have a strong and valued CPD programme, including excellent provision for ECTs and trainee teachers. We are active participants of the Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance.

Caterham High has been at the heart of the local community for over 60 years providing an excellent education for all young people that join our thriving institution. We use regular monitoring, target setting and dialogue with students and parents and carers to ensure students make good progress. There are many opportunities, formal and informal, for dialogue, which we strongly welcome.

We have an expanding and responsive curriculum aimed at enhancing choice and opportunity for students as they progress through the school from Year 7 to Year 13.  Our teaching is both innovative and challenging both in content and delivery, and ICT is used throughout the school to bring the curriculum to life and to stimulate and engage students in their learning. We make good use of our facilities (including the astro-turf pitch, pool, fitness suite and dance studio) and ensure that every child can be involved in the enrichment opportunities on offer.
