The Federation and Academy

Haberdashers’ Aske’s   Crayford Academy is a very successful 3-18 school, proud to belong to the   Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation. We offer an exciting and innovative model   for education within the community that we serve, with broad appeal to   parents and pupils alike.

Offering education across   all key stages which has consistently been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted, most   recently in December 2014, following our second year of extremely positive   GCSE results we now have students in every year group to year 13 with our   first cohort of A level students taking their examinations in 2017.

Facilities at the school  are first class; from the building itself to the resources which support the   delivery of a broad curriculum including an extremely popular and well   maintained Learning Resource Centre. Our playing fields, gymnasium, drama   theatre and ICT facilities all contribute to ensuring we deliver an education   for character, a feature of all Haberdashers’ schools that is part of our   DNA.

We take a comprehensive   mix of children and expect nothing less than the highest personal goals for   each pupil. Where pupils are   disadvantaged, we expect them to make rapid progress to catch up with their   peers. Our focus is to ensure each child we teach can read, write and do   mathematics to a good standard in order to be successful in their education   and life.

Haberdashers’ Aske’s   Crayford Academy is 30 minutes from London Bridge by train and the school’s   proximity to the capital is a strong factor in enabling teachers to enhance   the cultural experience for our pupils through enrichment activities.

The   role

With strong GCSE   results and a popular post 16 course, Business Studies is an integral part of   the curriculum at Crayford Academy. Children and their families have engaged with our approach to curriculum design in KS4 and KS5 which sets out two programmes of study – the professional and the academic.

Business   Studies benefits from strong support delivered by the Haberdashers’ Company,   who have a particular interest in the subject’s development and the success of our pupils in entrepreneurship and career progression. Pupils are encouraged  to be competitive and business-like in their approach, and as a consequence,   are highly motivated to do well academically.

We are looking   to appoint an outstanding, motivated teacher with a proven track record of   achievement to develop this department. You will be driven to promote further   interest in this popular and successful subject across the full age range of   the school. You will have specific responsibility for the progress and   attainment of students in Business Studies and will oversee curriculum change   when necessary.

We will expect   you to manage and continue developing a broad, balanced, relevant and   differentiated curriculum for the subject area which is in keeping with the   Academy’s aims for our pupils. There is the opportunity for the successful   candidate to improve the existing standards of student attainment and   achievement through your fresh ideas, motivational skills and keen focus on improvement.   You will join a team of creative, supportive and reflective middle leaders   who play a key role in driving school improvement.

The Candidate

We are seeking a   strong, well qualified leader with a degree and a teaching qualification. Preferably,   you will draw on some experience of raising educational standards in a   leadership role (curriculum and/or pastoral experience). You will also bring real energy and   dynamism to the role, alongside genuine enthusiasm for your subject matter.
