Job overview

The Governors wish to appoint an outstanding individual to lead the Resistant Materials/Product Design Department from September, as we continue to move from being a ‘Good’ to ‘Great’ school for our students and the wider community. Our school is growing and is heavily oversubscribed again, for September 2019.

We are an ambitious, friendly, rural Secondary (11-16) School on the edge of the New Forest in Wiltshire with talented staff and motivated students and a strong family atmosphere.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have the ability to lead and teach Resistant Materials/Product Design across KS3 and KS4
  • Be committed to achievement for all
  • Have the skills to deliver high quality learning to students in KS3 and KS4
  • Be ambitious for themselves, students and the school
  • Be fully committed to their continuous professional development
  • Have QTS
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and subject knowledge to inspire our students
  • Be prepared to contribute to the extra-curricular programme

Our Design & Technology Department team currently consists of an experienced Subject Leader, along with three experienced teaching colleagues and three Technicians. Students are highly motivated, engaged and achieve well. From September 2019, we have decided to create Subject Leaders in the three main areas of Resistant Materials/Product Design, Food & Nutrition and Textiles. However, we envisage Subject Leaders working very closely, to ensure a rounded technology experience for our students.

Candidates should note that The Trafalgar School is a founding partner of a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) with a growing partnership of other schools, known as the Magna Learning Partnership. To all new staff joining any of the schools, this may afford the exciting opportunity to work in more than one school as the need arises. Your interest and readiness for this will be discussed at interview.

Visits to the school or a conversation with the Headteacher are welcomed, prior to application. To arrange this, please contact Charley Baines, Headteacher’s PA on 01725 550300 or via email: headspa@trafalgar.wilts.sch.uk

For further information and an application pack, please visit www.trafalgarschool.com

Closing date: 9am on Monday, 29th April 2019.

Provisional Interview date: Friday, 3rd May 2019.
