Twyford Church of England High School, an Ofsted outstanding school with a thriving Sixth Form, is one of four Twyford Trust schools, and the new post-holder will be joining us at a time of growth – the Trust therefore offers excellent promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of our schools. The new post-holder will be an enthusiastic linguist who is a strong classroom practitioner with a commitment to achieving the highest standards both academically and in terms of engagement with Spanish.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure outstanding outcomes in the curriculum and the wider curricular offer within Spanish, and the new post-holder will be joining a team of eleven teachers.

Students follow the AQA syllabus at GCSE and A level, enabling them to fully develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing, translation and grammar skills. In Year 7 students study either French or Spanish with able linguists (half of the year group) also studying Latin. In Year 8 more able linguists are offered German as a second modern foreign language.  In Year 9 all students begin their GCSE, having chosen from French, German or Spanish with some students choosing a second modern foreign language or Latin at this stage. Approximately 80% of students study languages in Year 9, and the majority continue through to GCSE.  Student numbers are also very strong at A Level in Spanish and French.  In 2018/19 we have 63 students studying French, Spanish and German at KS5, and we consistently have Sixth Form students who continue to study languages at Oxbridge and the Russell group of Universities.

2018 Spanish results:

GCSE: 36 students took GCSE Spanish with 58.3% achieving 9-7, 94.4% achieving 9-5 and 100% achieving 9-4.

A Level: 17 students took A Level Spanish with 53% achieving A*-A, 88% A*-B, 94% A*-C and 100% A*-C.

About Twyford Church of England High School

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact CoE MAT which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10 year period it launched three new schools Ealing Fields, William Perkin and Ada Lovelace all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 1% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest attaining Trust in the UK. TCEAT aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the TCEAT operates on collaborative principles with some central services to achieve consistency of provision. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum from Yr 7 –Yr 13 which has been devised by staff within the four schools and we have a thriving 6th form co-ordinated across 3 of the school sites. The Trust is also the hub of Teach West London and prides itself on high quality, peer-led CPD within a dynamic culture of self-improvement.
