Job overview

The Plantsbrook School Physical Education Department is a well-resourced and committed department with an excellent track record. Facilities include two Multi-Use Games Areas, a modern purpose-built sports hall and a fully equipped fitness suite. At Key Stage 3, pupils experience a range of individual and team sports. They also build resilience and confidence in their approach to physical activity and begin to appreciate the social benefits of exercise. The department currently offers GCSE Physical Education at Key Stage 4 and Level 3 BTEC Sport at Key Stage 5. Both courses are very popular and lead to successful outcomes for students.

We are looking to develop the role of SL for PE to include supporting whole school Health and Wellbeing strategies (as led by the DHT Behaviour and Personal Development). The role of Physical Education stretches beyond the classroom and is central to the healthy development of our pupils. Studies show the life-long importance of PE for both physical and mental wellbeing. We are offering the exciting opportunity to expand the role into SL for PE, Health and Wellbeing.

To succeed, you’ll have strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver high quality lessons, together with an enthusiasm for teamwork and collaboration.

We can offer you:

  • The full support of an experienced professional team of staff
  • Well established protocols and systems
  • Continuing Professional Development and training to support you in your work
  • The opportunity to work in this innovative and forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trust based in an attractive, state-of-the-art new building
  • Cashback healthcare plan
  • Employee assistance scheme to include free and confidential advice, information and counselling, 24 hour GP line and discounts at various retail outlets
  • Cycle to work scheme
