Subject Leader - Physics (MPS/UPS Outer London ) + TLR2a £3,245.00

The Kingston Academy seeks an ambitious and motivated Physics Specialist with a strong command of their subject and who is ready to lead Physics within our Science Team.

The Kingston Academy is an outstanding Secondary School in North Kingston, which opened for the first time in September 2015 with a cohort of Year 7 pupils. TKA has received a substantial capital grant for the refurbishment of the existing educational facilities and for additional new modern buildings which we have now taken possession of. Our mission is to provide a world-class education for all the young people within our community to ensure that every pupil is safe, happy and succeeds. We now have over 1000 pupils across the seven year groups from year 7 to year 13.

We invite applications from candidates with the following attributes for this role:

• Passionate about their subject and willing and able to teach across all sciences at KS3 and lea/teach Physics at all Key Stages. A keenness to shape and deliver a coherent, high quality physics curriculum;
• Willingness to develop and improve teaching and learning resources and professional development to support the delivery of excellent physics teaching by all members of the science department;
• A strong classroom practitioner, with the ability to engage pupils;
• A proven track record of achieving strong results in delivering the GCSE Physics programme and A level Physics through support and development of the physics teaching team;
• Flexible and committed to engage in the wider curriculum through our Going Beyond and enrichment activities.

Interview Procedure

Our selection procedure will aim to identify with rigour whether the candidate fulfils the requirements of the post and will include the consideration of the candidate’s suitability to work with children and young people. The process will include:

• Teaching an observed lesson to a full class of pupils;
• Meeting with a panel of our pupils for informal question and answer session;
• Interview/presentation with Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head of Science.
