Job overview

Rethinking education, helping tomorrow’s citizens flourish.

We seek to recruit a strong subject specialist in Physics to join a collaborative team of teachers who are passionate and committed to developing the subject across the school. Physics is a popular subject within sixth form - we currently have 90 students studying A Level Physics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach KS3, KS4 and KS5, as well as contribute to our Physics and Science themed enrichment programmes. There are also opportunities for a suitably experienced candidate to contribute to teacher training and our well-established Physics network.

Please see our additional information sheet for more details about Physics at UOBS.

We will have high expectations of you to be an outstanding role model committed to the distinctive ethos of our School.

In return, we can offer:

  • Professional Development: We are committed to your growth. You will benefit from ongoing professional development, with additional training days to enhance your teaching pedagogy.

  • Research & Development: Enjoy 3 dedicated days per year to focus on your own research or professional development.

  • World-Class Resources & Partnerships: Access cutting-edge resources, research, and professional networks through our collaboration with the University of Birmingham Schools of Chemistry and Education.

  • Support for ECTs: If you are an Early Career Teacher, you'll receive excellent support and guidance to ensure a successful start to your career.

  • Enrichment Opportunities: Be involved in our exciting timetabled enrichment programme, making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

Visits to the school are welcomed.  We are holding an Open Event on Thursday, 12th February 2026, from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm, where you will get the opportunity to meet the Subject Leader and find out more about our department and facilities.  If you would like to book on to this event, please contact Ellen Walsh, School Business Officer, at e.walsh@uobschool.org.uk.
