About the role

·       To create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, attractive and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.

·       To maintain good order and discipline among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety following school procedures and policies.

·       To organise and manage groups or individual pupils ensuring differentiation of learning needs, reflecting all abilities.

·       To plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of pupils’ learning.

·       To ensure effective use of support staff within the classroom, including parent helpers.

·       To be part of a whole school team, actively involved in decision-making on the preparation

·       To ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice.

·       To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children though relevant policies and procedures.

·       To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.

This is a Casual-zero hour contract

Who we are looking for

Qualified teacher status

A degree or equivalent qualification.

Evidence of in service professional development.

Good to outstanding judgments made through teacher appraisal

 Experience of teaching for 2 years

Ability to prepare and plan effectively and meet each child’s need.

 Good organisational skills and flexibility.

About Briar Hill Primary School

Briar Hill Primary and Nursery School is an 3-11 school, based in the town of Northampton. In May 2016 the school was judged as good by Ofsted. We are now on our way to outstanding as we have continued to ensure rapid progress is made to improve the quality of education for all pupils. 

Briar Hill is therefore seeking to recruit staff who will have high expectations of all pupils and will work with our skilled team to secure improved outcomes and life chances for the young people in our community. Driving this improvement is a commitment from leaders that teachers are the experts in their field and they should be enabled to teach well planned units of the curriculum, ensuring students acquire knowledge; without the distraction of unnecessary workload, excessive observation and scrutiny or low value administrative tasks.
