Meadow High School: “Achieving together”

Meadow High is a special school for students aged 11-19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional Complexities. One of the UK’s largest secondary special schools, we have been consistently rated as a Good school. The school holds a number of national awards including the SEN Specialist Schools Award, the Inclusion Quality Mark Award and the International School Award.

To support the Local Authority we are expanding further with two new development projects. The first is a replacement block where our remaining temporary classrooms are situated. Once this is opened in September 2024, we will gradually expand to have around 300 pupils on the 'Royal Lane' site. The next project is a Satellite Unit based in Harefield village, called 'Northwood Road'. This will house up to 90 Pathway 1 pupils and should be ready for us to occupy in Autumn 2025. This role will initially be based at our Royal Lane site and relocated to Northwood Road, Harefield upon its completion.

We are looking for 2 highly skilled, patient, calm and fair Support Coordinators to manage our teaching assistant team as middle leaders of the school. The post requires the ability to self manage your workload, ensuring that attention is given to both the urgent but also routine tasks that make up this post. As well as inducting, supervising, role modelling and training our teaching assistants this post will also directly support our young people in both short and long term highly skilled interventions, individually and in small groups. No two days are ever the same, so someone with the good humour and resilience to manage the challenging days will excel in the role. Although our students' behaviour is normally very good, please note at times, managing behaviours that challenge will be expected of the post holder, full training will be given.

What we can offer you:

  • A vibrant, welcoming, well established and friendly school.
  • A school with pupils who enjoy school and thrive on their opportunities and achievements.
  • A talented and experienced staff team committed to giving our pupils the best opportunities for life.
  • A highly supportive and committed Governing Body.
  • Opportunities for CPD, especially in relation to leadership responsibility and career progression.

Closing date: Wednesday 1st May

Shortlisting: Thursday 2nd May

Interview date: Thursday 9th and Friday 10th May

CVs will not be accepted.

Meadow High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. In addition, as part of the shortlisting process, we will carry out an online search as part of our due diligence on the shortlisted candidates to help identify any incidents or issues that may have happened, and are publicly available online, and which we may want to explore with candidates at interview.
