Opened in September 2013, The Studio Liverpool is a school for 14-19 year olds focused on the creative and digital technology sectors.  The Studio empowers students to make a positive impact on the world through an innovative use of digital technology and is a launchpad for students’ careers in emerging areas of the creative and digital sectors.

Housed in a state-of-the- art building in the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool, The Studio looks, feels and is different in the way it shapes learning, and creates its own unique culture of excellence through project based and technology-led learning.  As we grow, there are likely to be many opportunities for career progression both at The Studio and through the Northern Schools Trust.

As a Support Coach you will work with individuals and groups of students to remove obstacles to learning and develop skills they need to achieve.  Working with the Director of KS4, SENDCO, teaching staff and outreach service staff, you will put together packages of support for students that improve their achievement by meeting their learning needs.  You will develop students’ emotional intelligence, relationship skills and resilience to prepare them for their next steps.  You will use your expertise to support the learning needs of our ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) students in addition to all other students. You will have had experience in 1:1 SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) support for young people with particular emphasis on an understanding of the struggles ASC students face.

Key roles across the team include:

• To coach ASC students to identify and remove obstacles to learning and achievement

• To identify and implement strategies for ASC students that help them learn more effectively

• To identify gaps in learning and implement strategies with students to reduce these

• To use data to identify, organise and implement effective interventions that improve students learning

• To assist the SENDCo by contributing to the copy for administrative documentation

• To build excellent relationships with students and model this for others

• To support students to develop effective organisational and learning skills

• To liaise with parents to ensure alignment of home/school expectations

• To work with outreach organisations and other partners to develop packages of support for students

• To work with groups of students within the classroom to support learning across a range of subjects especially Maths and English

• To disseminate support strategies to teaching staff and coaches

• To run 1:1 SEMH support sessions with ASC students and any other students with SEND challenges including students who struggle with gender identity transition

Located in the city of Liverpool, Merseyside, The Studio School Liverpool is a studio school founded in 2013. A co-educational school, it has around 250 pupils aged 14-19, roughly half of whom reside in the school’s sixth form. As with many studio schools, it covers a large economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. The school is part of the Northern Schools Trust, and shares its site with another school in the trust, UTC Life Sciences, with the two schools often working closely together to provide classes to students.

Values and Vision

The Studio is Merseyside’s only dedicated creative and digital tech school. A Studio education allows you to develop academically while preparing for your chosen career in the creative, technology or entrepreneurship sectors. The Studio is a unique Studio School pioneering a new approach to education. Working closely with industry partners, we seek to address the growing gap between the skills and knowledge that young people require to succeed, and those that the current education system provides.
