An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing SEND teacher to be part of the entry level Supported Internship programme based at Stepping Hill Hospital. The Supported Internship is an employment-based course for young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It offers opportunities for students to develop genuine employability skills and experience based in real working environments across the host employer and within roles across the wider community.
This teaching role will involve the delivery of the work-based curriculum and supporting students in the development of the skills required to achieve successful outcomes in relation to supported employment and the delivery of employability skills. The internship is run in conjunction with Pure Innovations - a specialist charity that supports people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups to get into work and access community and leisure activities.
Applicants should be familiar with the teaching and learning practices that support successful engagement with SEND learners. Ideally you will have had previous experience of the delivery of vocational work based curriculums and a sound understanding of the educational needs of SEND students progressing into employment.
The teacher will work alongside a specialist Senior Employment adviser, Job Coach and placement managers across the hospital.
