At Lovelace we have a history of swimming success - by the time every child leaves us we aim to ensure that they can swim. We are lucky to have our very own heated covered pool which was funded over fifty years ago by our PFA. We currently have improvement plans in place which we hope to implement this during the next year which will extend our swimming provision to all year round.

About the role:

As a Swimming Instructor, you will be passionate about all things swimming. You will enjoy going the extra mile to inspire our swimmers of all ages to build confidence, reach their goals and most importantly, have fun.

In this role you will prepare, plan, and deliver lessons to pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with an end goal of ensuring that all pupils can swim 25 metres (front crawl, back stroke with a knowledge of breast stroke) by the time pupils leave in Year 6.

You will be ready for exciting challenges daily as no two days are the same within this extremely rewarding role.

About You:

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who love working with children to help them develop their skills. You will need patience and great communication skills – the essentials of a great instructor!

You will have the relevant professional qualifications required for this role as outlined in the job description.

Applications will be shortlisted on receipt.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.

I am delighted that you are interested in joining us.

Lovelace Primary School opened in 1954 and we have been educating children in the localities of Hook & Chessington for nearly seventy years.  Situated in the south west of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames on the very edge of the greenbelt, we benefit from an extensive and beautiful school site.

We are a large school with a BIG heart! Currently we are a school with three forms of entry and a 52 place nursery. Our children, teachers and numerous support staff members ensure a vibrant and buzzing learning environment. There is a full range of extended services provided by our Sunrise and Sunset provisions (breakfast and after school care) from 8am until 6pm.

Originally an infant & junior school, the school amalgamated in the 1980s and whilst some of the buildings date from the fifties, many are more recent including our purpose built Nursery class and our ‘North Wing’ comprising of four state of the art environmentally friendly classrooms.

The school grounds are attractive and spacious comprising of a woodland walk, bird hides, a wildflower meadow, a large amphitheater. There are attractive landscaped lawns in the front of the school and a large playing field at the rear, together with generous, hard play areas.  In addition, we have allotments and an orchard and a beautiful Estonian redwood pine outdoor science & nature education centre – we call this the ‘Dolly Lee Lodge’ named after our very first headteacher!

Our learning environment is very well resourced. We have two large halls used for assemblies, dance, drama & sport. We have a large ICT suite plus extensive facilities for computing, a large library, a nurture room, a family kitchen and our very own covered swimming pool.

We employ people who are passionate about ensuring that our children have the best possible experience at school irrespective of their contexts or starting points to maximize their achievement and progress. We are also a learning community and want all school staff to continue their professional learning with us be it through our extensive range of professional development in school, through Education Kingston or through our links and networks with neighbouring teaching schools. Our governors also take care of the well being of our staff recognizing that they are our most important resources for example, our school staff are enrolled in the Benenden Healthcare scheme.
