Job overview

Swimming specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of specific camps and program areas related to swimming and watersports, as well as the fulfillments of assigned administrative duties. The position will involve focusing on the delivery of Swimming and Water Sports across all campuses.

  1. Develop the 6      week summer scheme of work with specific contents and camp activities      associated with the area of specialization. This includes responsibilities      for staff orientation, training and on-the-job coaching
  2. Act as a      special skill resource person for all camp staff.
  3. Meet weekly      with the summer camp counsellors for who the role would oversee. 
  4. Responsible      for overseeing the delivery of summer camp sessions from staff related to      their area of responsibility.
  5. Conduct the      camp activities with campers in the area of specialization
  6. Assist the Head      of the Summer Programme in administrative duties (i.e., program planning,      development of work schedules, purchase of supplies, equipment/supplies      control, staff meeting, etc.)
  7. Produce shows      or competitions for campers in the area of specialization so students are      able to contribute to the Summer Camp Closing Event.
  8. Assist the Head      of the Summer Programme in the supervision and evaluation of camp staff. 
  9. Assist in      the promotion of the program & public relations activities. 
  10. Prepare and      submit a comprehensive report immediately upon completion of the program. 
  11. Responsible      for delivering some of the summer programme.
  12. Other      related duties assigned by the Head of the Summer Programme from time to      time.
  13. Guide and lead campers in participating      successfully in all aspects of camp activities
  14. Supervise, assist instructors and actively      participate in all aspects of the campers’ day.
  15. Observe camper behavior, assess its      appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency      procedures and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
  16. Communicate with parents about      participant’s experiences and meet/communicate regularly with Site      Director regarding concerns, updates, challenges


REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree      holder
  • Sound expertise      and skills in the area of specialization
  • Good leadership      skills 
  • Demonstrated      experience in working with children

Other requirements:

  • Love for children
  • Ability to teach      and lead various recreational activities
  • Excellent      character, integrity and adaptability
  • Ability to      communicate and work with a variety of age and skill levels
  • Desire and ability      to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Enthusiasm, sense      of humor, patience and self-control
  • Available for      training sessions from 4 – 8 June 2018.
  • Available      7:30am-4:30pm, Monday – Friday from June 11 thru July 20, 2018. You will      be required to stay later on staff meeting days once a week and be      available to participate in the Summer Camp Closing Event on 21 July 2018.
