Job overview

Teaching Assistant level 2b General SEND

“Ashton Community Science College is a Good School”. (Ofsted 2018)

We are looking to appoint a dedicated, skilled and ambitious professional to join our learning support department as soon as available.

This vacancy arises because we are re-structuring our pastoral and SEND systems and so is a new post.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, to take a role in supporting the learning of students with special educational needs so they can participate fully and positively in learning and school life. Some of these students will have Education Health Care Plans, whilst others will have needs identified by school.

Our goal is to be an outstanding High School and we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated professional who is committed to raising standards by inspiring learners. If you believe that young people deserve nothing less than the best and have the passion, drive and ambition to make a difference, you would be a welcome addition to our school family.

The successful candidate will have:

Ø A passion for supporting and managing young people that goes beyond mere qualifications

Ø Previous experience of working with secondary age children in education, health or social services

Ø Excellent communication skills with families, carers and students

Ø Knowledge of procedures, practices and techniques for behaviour management

Ø Experience of dealing with emotional situations where students may become distressed.

Ø An absolute commitment to achieving the highest of standards

If you are interested in becoming part of our team and helping us to continue our drive for further success, then we would be pleased to hear from you. A full programme of support is available as part of our commitment to investing in high quality staff

ACSC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to provide a disclosure from Disclosure Barring Service before any appointment is confirmed.

Online searches and criminal record self-disclosure. In line with KCSIE 2022, an online check will be conducted on all shortlisted staff. Criminal record self-disclosure will also be sent to candidates shortlisted; they should be returned prior to interview.

Application documents are available to download in the vacancies section of the school website http://www.ashtoncsc.lancs.sch.uk/job-vacancies

Applications should be submitted electronically by 8am Monday 20th February 2023 to Mrs Kay Fisher: kfisher@ashtoncsc.com
