We are seeking to appoint a strong and experienced teacher, initially for a Year 2 class, to join our vibrant school at an exciting time of change and development.  The successful candidate will:  Be prepared to follow the Job Share Policy as outlined within school Have an excellent understanding of the New National Curriculum, Interim Framework, Year 2 moderation and assessment Understand and rise to the challenge of ensuring that the highest possible standards are achieved by all children regardless of their starting points Provide a creative and high quality environment with inclusion at the heart of all learning Make a significant contribution to the development of teaching and learning in our caring and ambitious school We are looking for someone who is

• An excellent teacher and a confident communicator at all levels

• Highly motivated and can lead and create a climate where others are empowered to achieve their best 

• Innovative and flexible in their approach • Committed to the highest expectations of achievement and behaviour and to continuous school improvement

Common Road is an Infant School with a 52 Place Nursery. Our current NOR is 150 full time children plus 47 children in nursery.


General Information

Common Road Infant and Nursery School serves the community of South Kirkby, an area of mainly social housing, ex mining history, situated in the semi- rural South East of the Wakefield area. South Kirkby Academy and Minsthorpe Secondary schools are close by.

We are a very caring and supportive school providing a safe, secure environment where all children are valued.

Common Road has a strong staff team who support the children to reach their full potential.


Teaching and Learning

Staff have high expectations of the children and themselves. They work hard as a team to provide stimulating and high quality learning environments, they do this with enthusiasm and motivation in order to gain the best results for all children in school. The environment is supportive of all learners and children are encouraged to develop independence, self-esteem, confidence and to ultimately develop a life-long, love of learning.
