The Design and Technology department is  well equipped with good facilities. We now have a specific Computer Manufacturing Centre which has the latest CNC machines including Laser and 3-D printer.  These allow our pupils to experience the best of computer aided manufacturing currently available. Our spacious integrated Studios and Workshops have the flexibility to be used in many ways to allow as wide a range of designing and making activities as possible. The Studios have the capability to use the latest multimedia teaching techniques and allows the pupil's access to Computer Aided Design and ICT through the use of a suite of laptop computers using wireless technology.

Why St. Joseph's?

In 1929, St Joseph's Catholic High School was established by parishioners to serve the town of Workington and we are very proud to be continuing to educate students across this area nearly a 100 years later.

We strive to make sure our school is a brilliant place to work for all our staff.  We are a small school and we are proud of our ‘family feel’.  Our mission is to create an environment that brings out the best in our students and staff, year after year. It's really important to us that we look after our staff to enable them to provide the best for our students and they benefit from extensive careers support and CPD opportunities, a comprehensive well-being package and access to an on-site gym. In September 2021, we became one of the founding members of the growing Mater-Christi Multi Academy Trust and this is further developing our range of staff opportunities and benefits.
