This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the specialist education provision available for young people in Dumfries and Galloway.

Based at Elmbank School, Dumfries, you will teach and support secondary-aged young people who have social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEBN) to access education.

You will work with a team of other teachers as well as learning assistants to provide educational opportunities for young people, including supporting them within Elmbank and on an outreach basis in a mainstream school. You will also work closely with mainstream school staff to help ensure young people at risk of exclusion are supported to remain in mainstream settings where possible.

You will be a GTCS secondary qualified teacher and have experience of working with young people with additional support needs (preferably SEBN). You will be flexible, enthusiastic and sensitive to pupil needs.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
