About A Wilderness Way

Our homes are located in the peaceful and inspirational countryside of Cumbria, Northumbria, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and southern Scotland. Our offer, which has evolved over time, is now high intensity assessment placements with a desired outcome of successful transition into permanence. Our intention for education is to have a focus on stability, health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world. The aim of our curriculum is to engage students in education and to enable them to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes that they need to be able to manage their lives, now and in the future.

We understand that our students may have been disenchanted with education, and our thematic, inquiry-led approach, and our use of outdoor and experiential learning, offers an exciting and relevant learning experience which encourages personal development, engagement and achievement. With Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education at its core, our curriculum encourages our students to explore their strengths and their potential, to set themselves ambitious and achievable targets and to overcome challenges, now and in their future lives.
