Job overview

The role and salary

The Ebbsfleet Academy is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join their vibrant and dedicated community. We require the successful candidate to be able to confidently supervise a class during the short-term absence of a teacher. You will be expected to lead the lesson using instructions set by the class teacher / department, warrant the good behaviour of the students, and ensure that they engage in the learning activity.

On occasion, you may be required to plan and mark student work for longer term absences, and this will be under the guidance and support from leaders, in line with the school’s Teaching and Learning policy.

This role would be ideal for candidates wishing to gain valuable classroom experience; possibly as a precursor to teacher training or studying for a classroom support qualification. It would equally suit an individual who believes in the power of education and wishes to contribute to the lives of young people.

The role is 37 hours per week Term Time Only + 2 CPD. Salary: Kent Scheme 5 (Points 9-13) £18,704 – £20,121 pro rata £11,772 - £12,664

The Ebbsfleet Academy

It is a fantastic time to be joining The Ebbsfleet Academy. We are a dynamic and successful 11-18 academy serving the local community. We have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness of our school population. We encourage all our teaching staff to share ideas and best practice strategies for teaching to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students

Our ambition is to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential, develop as courteous, confident and capable young people and leave with an education that has fully equipped them to go on to university or the career of their choice.

Our curriculum is based around the needs of our students and consists of a rich blend of academic and vocational qualifications, all supported by fantastic learning resources including outstanding sports facilities, as well as modern, generously equipped classrooms, workshops and laboratories.

All areas are served by excellent ICT facilities. Working together, in partnership with all stakeholders but especially parents and carers, we are creating a dynamic and innovative learning institution.

The Brook Learning Trust

The Brook Learning Trust is proud to have The Ebbsfleet Academy as part of our family of academies. As a Trust, we bring together our unique academies in our belief in the power of education to change lives and communities.

It is our steadfast purpose to challenge and defy the barriers that constrain the educational progress of any child. We set high aims for aspiration and secure collective responsibility for all our children’s achievements. Our work is underpinned by the values of Integrity, Respect, Courage, Optimism, Excellence and Accountability.

A strong focus on teaching and learning as well as high standards and expectations has led the Brook Learning Trust to become one of the highest performing multi-academy trusts in the county. Last year, children in our academies made better progress - learning and growing with us - than they would have done in other schools or academies nationally. The Brook Learning Trust, working with High Weald Academy, brings energy, passion and expertise to the education of our children.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff to share this commitment. All posts are subject to vetting checks including an Enhanced DBS check and references.  An overseas police check will be required by candidates who have worked or resided outside of the UK.

Do you want to transform lives? Are you ready for a challenge? Do you want to work in an academy that is fast becoming the number one school of choice in the local community and has improved results by over 30% in three years, with a 5A*- C figure last summer of 56%? Do you want to join a hardworking and passionate team of staff in an academy characterised by high aspirations, academic excellence and exemplary behaviour? Do you want to work in a school that has a firm discipline and crystal clear rules (that are enforced) alongside a strong current of care, encouragement and reward?

Ebbsfleet Academy opened in September 2013; we are on a journey to become an over-subscribed school that children walk to, with their friends, where they enjoy coming and a school of which they feel proud. We are building an ethos that creates a belief that we can all achieve our goals and better our futures. We are developing independent, resilient and respectful individuals, who are ready to learn for themselves. We want all our students to achieve the highest qualifications they can, but also to fulfil all their potential, academic and personal, sporting, creative and artistic. We want our pupils to leave school as well-rounded, confident young people, with an awareness of the wider world, and a desire and ambition to play an active part in it, all of which is encapsulated in Ebbsfleet Academy’s motto - Aspire and Excel!

We are a dynamic and successful 11-18 academy serving the local community. We have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness of our school population.

Our curriculum is based around the needs of our students and consists of a rich blend of academic and vocational qualifications, all supported by fantastic learning resources

We are extremely proud of our record to date, of our constantly improving results and of our 'Good' Ofsted outcome (October 2019). We have a clear commitment to the highest of expectations and achievement for all, with an excellent team of committed staff and outstanding facilities.

Our ambition is to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential, develop as courteous, confident and capable young people and leave with an education that has fully equipped them to go on to university or the career of their choice.
