Competitive WMCUTC Pay Scale (Negotiable dependent on skills and experience)

West Midlands Construction UTC (WMCUTC) is looking for inspirational staff to help shape an innovative approach to education.

About Us

University Technical Colleges (UTCs) offer students a revolutionary education that combines academic rigour with industry standard technical training: WMCUTC focuses on preparing students for professional careers in a modern, thriving Construction industry that is rich in cutting edge IT.

We are co-sponsored by Europe’s largest construction skills training provider, CITB and the University of Wolverhampton. Together our sponsors ensure that the quality of our curriculum is of the highest educational standards whilst tied closely to the reality of a rapidly changing industry in order to meet our students’ needs. The UTC is also working in partnership with over 60 employers who ensure that we are able to support our students into their chosen career. Through this support we are able to offer individual industry mentors for all students and staff, and deliver an employer led, project based curriculum. Students will be prepared for a range of roles across the sector including Architecture, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Construction Management and associated IT roles.

This is an opportunity for exceptional teachers to develop a new approach to secondary education and be at the vanguard of educational theory and practice. We are recruiting staff who will relish the opportunity to be involved in a truly ground breaking educational movement.

WMCUTC will be based in a brand new, purpose-built building in Wolverhampton city centre at our Springfield Campus. Whilst this is being constructed, we will be based at a temporary school campus in Wolverhampton where our students will be helping us to design, build and innovate in our new building.

The Role

We will be employing only the very best teachers and support staff whose primary focus will be to drive academic excellence alongside technical proficiency. Our staff will come from a variety of backgrounds, both in industry and education but will be united in a single aim: to arm our students with a superb grounding for their careers in the Construction and Built Environment sector through a series of large scale, project based experiences led by our employer partners.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Design to be part of a successful team and help to develop a ground-breaking curriculum.

In return the UTC offers:

  • Highly competitive salary scale
  • Supported MA or PhD Study (including financial support)
  • Opportunities for progression
  • Personal Mentor from Industry

About You
