We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.
The position requires a March/April 2024 start. Interviews will take place on the 22nd and 23rd February. If a suitable candidate is appointed, the advert will be closed early.

Tor View School is a small special school with an Ofsted rating of GOOD. Our school is set in a beautiful rural location in West Devon. We are a day school specialising in the education and care of up to 30 pupils between the age of 7 and 18 years who are diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum with associated learning difficulties. Social skills, communication needs and anxiety determine that they are in group sizes no greater than 4 pupils. We provide a personalised curriculum that previous schools have been unable to.
We are looking for an aspirational teacher with experience in special education. We would expect you to have the experience and skills to be able to manage a small group of up to four pupils who have autism, speech and language, communication and interaction needs as well as potential other needs such as ADHD, specific learning difficulties or trauma related anxiety.
The role will require experience with pupils working at a KS1 or KS2 equivalent. Play, communication and social interaction are essential aspects of the curriculum.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with a bespoke curriculum.
- To plan and deliver personalised educational pathways that allow the pupils to thrive and progress towards adulthood and success in agreed targets.
- Role of group tutor, co-ordinate pastoral matters for the group of pupils ensuring that communication with parents/carers, external agencies is effective in keeping children and adults safe and well.
- Following effective assessment procedures to ensure that pupils are making good progress, identifying barriers to this and working with others to overcome them.
- Contributing to whole school development priorities to support the development and growth of the school, for the benefit of the pupils.
- Teachers on the upper pay spine will lead an aspect of the curriculum development.
