Gelston Primary School is a rural school, located approximately 6 miles from Castle Douglas/24 miles from Dumfries. It is situated in a small village with an excellent outdoor learning environment on the doorstep. There are two teaching bases and the current roll sits at 40 pupils. Gelston School is partnered with nearby Crossmichael Primary School.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated class teacher and should demonstrate a high level of commitment to all aspects of school and partnership life. We are seeking to appoint a creative teacher with vision and a passion for learning. This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning. This current session, the post will cover a Primary 1-4 multi-composite class.
Applicants are required to be fully registered in the appropriate sector with the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT.
This post considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/ or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates are required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they are resident.
This is a temporary post for a period of up to 1 year to cover a maternity leave.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
