Job overview

We are looking for an qualified teacher who is experienced as an English as an Additional Language teacher  to join our Junior School Leidschenveen (JSL) campus, based in The Hague.  This is an 80% position  (4 days: beginning January 2017.)

The BSN was founded on the principles of developing and challenging the whole individual – 'head, hand & heart.' Our curriculum has a strong British foundation and our students and teachers are from all around the world, inspiring a vibrant international outlook. With students from over 80 countries across the BSN, for many of our students English is an additional language.
We expect the successful candidate to be up to date with current research on teaching and learning, committed to the inclusion of all students in the school and who can work collaboratively with colleagues. You should understand what it means to be an EAL learner aged 3 – 11 years and how children acquire language.

The aim of the EAL Team is to develop and support the learning of EAL both in mainstream classes and through specialist EAL lessons.

The role includes:

  • Teaching English to individuals and mixed ability groups in an EAL classroom.
  • Working in partnership with the class teacher to teach individual students and small groups within the mainstream classroom to ensure students access the curriculum.
  • Establishing a supportive, collaborative relationship with the students and parents.
  • Working with and supporting colleagues to plan for the learning needs of EAL learners to access the curriculum.
