Rosslyn School is a small, free-standing special school, which serves the area from Kirkcaldy along the coast to Burntisland. The maximum number of pupils is 24 within the age range 3 - 19. At present the roll is 19.

The school building is Victorian, with four classrooms leading off the central hall. Additions to the original building are the school office area, the dining room which also serves as the P.E. and Assembly Hall, and the staffroom area. We have a large enclosed outdoor play area which is part tarmac, and part grass. This area has recently undergone a major transformation including the development of our sensory garden as well as the installation of a wheelchair accessible roundabout and swings.

The toilet areas of the school have been refurbished to provide disabled toilet access for wheelchair users. There is a small sensory room off Classroom 1 which is well equipped for pupils requiring a sensory curriculum.

Our main aim is to provide the best possible educational experience for each pupil. To achieve this aim we work in partnership with parents and other professionals, e.g. Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Educational Psychologist etc.

Each of the class groups has a teacher supported by a team of Pupil Support Assistants. We also have a part time teacher who has responsibility for our RME and Health Education programmes and a part time teacher who is responsible for developing and maintaining inclusion opportunities with mainstream schools. The pupil's work is based on 'A Curriculum for Excellence' in line with all other schools in Fife. The older pupils follow NQ Access courses which can lead to certification.
