We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional, experienced qualified teacher to work within a talented, highly motivated and supportive team of teachers within our English Department.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a high calibre, experienced practitioner who has a proven record of successful KS5 outcomes
  • Be ready to lead staff and hold them to account
  • Have excellent subject knowledge and a commanding presence
  • Develop the curriculum & oversee the English assessment programme for Key Stage 5
  • Analyse & evaluate Key Stage 5 progress data and devise action plans to close gaps in the performance of student groups
  • Communicate information, updates and deadlines to relevant staff
  • Evaluate lesson observation data to identify areas of improvement in classroom practice
  • Develop the use of Teams to encourage students to take responsibility for the development of their own English skills
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree

Harris Academy Merton is an 11-18 co-educational Academy for 1,500 students. The Academy opened in September 2006 on the site of the predecessor school. The Academy benefits from a brand new state-of-the-art Post 16 block and high quality buildings. Harris Merton is judged by Ofsted to be an Outstanding School. Harris Merton offers specialisms in Enterprise and Science. It is an oversubscribed school at the heart of its local community.
