This post will initially be based at Grove House Primary School.

Are you an outstanding teacher with a passion and commitment to make a difference to children’s lives?

We are seeking to recruit a creative, innovative and experienced Qualified Teacher of the Vision Impaired who can lead a team of professionals who work with vision impaired pupils across the Children’s Sensory and Physical Needs Service in the Local Authority Led Resourced Provisions (LARP). 

As the Teacher in Charge, you will lead effective and efficient provision for children with vision impairment at Grove House Primary School, Local Authority Led Resourced Provision to:

  • Provide strong and outstanding leadership, supervision and line management for a range of teaching and non-teaching staff and work with the service leadership team in all matters arising from policy, families, staffing, finance and administration and multi-agency working.
  • Work with the school and other professionals to secure and sustain effective teaching and learning for children and young people who are vision impaired, raising awareness of the needs and rights of these children and young people.
  • Ensure that a cohesive, flexible and responsive service is able to deliver efficient and effective outcomes to meet the individual needs of all pupils for whom the service has responsibility at Grove House Primary School

An enhanced DBS check and children’s barred list check will be undertaken for these posts and all mandatory pre employed checks will be carried out.

Responsibilities of the post include ensuring that the safety and welfare of children and young people is paramount by implementing the relevant safeguarding practice and policies and liaising with other council colleagues including the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) where appropriate. The post includes engaging in regulated activity with children and young people. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
