Primary Location: Northampton, Booth Lane Campus but will also be required to work at the Lower Mounts and Daventry sites

The Team
The purpose of this role is to teach to a high standard within the School of Academic & Vocational Support to ensure appropriate support is in place to promote students’ independence as learners in English. Northampton College recognises the missed learning that a large number of students experienced due to the covid pandemic, and we are striving to ensure their skills and confidence in English is developed to enable them to meet the demands of their vocational and GCSE courses, so they achieve and progress at college.
The Role
Teaching will take place in small groups with students from across the college. The post holder will have proven expertise in teaching and supporting students with dyslexia and literacy difficulties on courses at Level 1,2 and 3 and will also be able to develop confident study skills. The post involves assessing and working with students to improve their English skills, both written and spoken, advising subject tutors on in-class support strategies and working collaboratively with Tutors and Learning Support Assistants across the curriculum.
The Successful Candidate
- The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:
- Experience of teaching students with additional needs e.g., Dyslexia traits and ESOL
- Proven ability to teach a range of levels.
- Proven experience of implementing quality processes to ensure good teaching and learning.
- Proven ability to advise vocational teaching and support staff on appropriate in-class support strategies to help students achieve
- Proven experience in being able to advise teaching staff on appropriate access arrangements for students who are entered for external examinations

Northampton College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college situated in Northamptonshire. It is a 16-plus institution with three campuses: a major building at its main Northampton site, a smaller campus near the town centre and another 20 miles away in Daventry.
