WREKIN COLLEGE

HMC Co-educational Boarding and Day 11 - 18

Required for September 2018

Teacher in Support for Learning

(Part time – remuneration per lesson – approx. 15-20 hours per week; some flexibility in hours)

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to support pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) within our Support for Learning (SfL) department. Applications will be welcomed from candidates who have previous experience in a similar role and, preferably, who are qualified to assess pupils for exam access arrangements. Remuneration for assessments carried out is additional to that for lessons taught. The successful candidate will be an inspirational teacher, with drive, initiative, discretion and good communication skills. Most lessons are 1:1 and tailored to the needs of the individual. The role is supported by the Head of SfL to ensure all pupils are being set realistic targets and making good progress in their learning over time. Communication with classroom teachers is also important to ensure support across the curriculum for pupils with SpLDs. Experience in teaching pupils whose first language is not English would be an advantage since the department also supports EAL pupils.

Wrekin College is a busy school set within its own attractive and spacious grounds.  Any desire to be involved in the school’s co-curricular programme would be welcomed.

Accommodation may be available for the successful candidate.

Application forms and further details of the post are available from www.wrekincollege.com, the Headmaster’s PA on 01952 265602 or by e-mail from headmaster@wrekincollege.com. The completed forms with full curriculum vitae and letter of application should be sent to hr@wrekincollege.com by Friday 18th May 2018.

Wrekin College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be subject to a criminal records check.
