Teacher (Key Stage 3)

We require a motivated, skilled and resilient qualified KS3 teacher with experience in supporting young people with ASD. The role will suit a qualified teacher who can demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas. You will have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people. Ideally, you will have experience of working with young people who have complex communication issues, and a knowledge of Thrive or other programmes that hold young people in high regard.

You will have the understanding, skills and confidence to deal with the challenging behaviour that some of our students can at times exhibit, and an understanding that such behaviour is communication of unmet need. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and emotional resilience are essential attributes. As Class Teacher, you will direct and mentor classroom support staff.

Experience of working in a SEN environment is essential, along with knowledge of working with ASD and complex needs.

You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with teachers across other Aspris sites.

Our school:

Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school registered for 45 young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum/SPLD and are aged between 10 and 18 years. Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. We accept that young people who are referred to us may have previously experienced a ‘cycle of failure’ and our aim is to have a transformational impact on their lives by them experiencing a ‘culture of success’. We support all young people to achieve successful outcomes so that they can progress to experience fulfilling and rewarding lives.

We offer bespoke packages of education and therapy for our young people. We strongly believe that some individuals will always struggle to ‘fit in’ to existing structures and will only thrive when their provision is tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.
