Position Information 

Wellington High School is located on Wiradjuri land and committed to working with families and the wider community to provide students with an education that will equip them with the skills they require to become successful citizens, with an emphasis on nurturing their confidence and creativity through a strong base of literacy and numeracy.

Wellington High School services a rural community in Central New South Wales and provides a comprehensive curriculum for Years 7 to 12 in a caring and supporting environment, providing programs which cater for students of all abilities. It is the sole provider for Years 11 and 12 in the Wellington area. The school has 323 students, 64% of whom are Aboriginal and 3% LBOTE. Significant funding is received by the school through the Resource Allocation Model.

Wellington High School is a Restorative Practice School and "Achievement for All Students" is a focus of all school programs.

The school has excellent Vocational Education programs and facilities, with a Trade Training centre in Primary Industries and Metals and Engineering which opened in 2012.

Through the Situational Analysis, we were able to identify the following areas as those for explicit future planning: the use of data to inform teaching practice, improving the engagement of our students and community to increase the achievement of learning outcomes and the adoption of more explicit teaching practice.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (secondary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in mainstream classes with additional learning and support needs as well as support for staff in adjusting and modifying work appropriately for those students.

High level communication, interpersonal and organisation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies and parents/carers within a team environment.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

     This is a permanent part time position for  ( 4 days per week) 0.8FTE (Full-time equivalent).
