Position Information 

Woodberry Public School sits within the Hunter network of schools.  The school has a strong sense of connection with parents, caregivers and the Aboriginal community which is actively promoted and valued. The values of respect, commitment and responsibility are actively promoted in partnering with all stakeholders in enhancing the learning experience of our students. Woodberry Public School has an enrolment of 200 students, in 8 mainstream classes and 5 support classes. Of these students 39% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.  Woodberry Public School is proud of its strong and supportive relationship with the local Maitland AECG. We promote a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness and a commitment to excellence and we do this through quality teaching and learning.  Our students experience quality literacy and numeracy programs from Kindergarten to Year 6. Woodberry Public School is proud of its outstanding teachers, support personnel and administrative staff who work collaboratively in a school culture of continuous professional and performance development.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach Primary Library, or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education(Refer special notes below).
  • Capacity to manage and implement a stimulating library learning environment, encompassing the physical space and resources of the library, including the Oliver Library Management System.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively and professionally with our Aboriginal community and stakeholders to promote a positive school culture.
  • Evidence of effective classroom management skills and ability to implement high impact teaching strategies that support student engagement and wellbeing.

 

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

 
Special Notes 

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.

 

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

 

This is a permanent part time position for 2 days per week 0.4 FTE (Full-time equivalent).
