Langholm Academy is situated in the East of Dumfries and Galloway, nestled in the valley of the River Esk surrounded by beautiful countryside, and has a roll of 240 pupils. We are an inclusive school which strives to provide the best quality of education for life, with the needs of pupils at the centre of all we do. Langholm Academy is a school where all are active, challenged and engaged in their learning, with a committed team of professionals who provide a high standard of education in a friendly, relaxed, supportive and inclusive atmosphere. 

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic class teacher who displays a passion for learning. 

The successful candidate will adapt quickly to fulfilling the educational and social needs of the class and who will play an active role in our staff team.

Applications are welcome from current probationers pending attaining Full Registration with the GTCS. 

Applicants for teaching posts must be fully registered in appropriate sector with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT.

These posts are considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

This role may be suitable for an experienced primary teacher to teach BGE (S1-S3) mathematics.

 Langholm Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational six year comprehensive secondary in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. As of the most recent inspection there were 292 students on the school roll. The school was founded in 1876, and its motto translates from Latin as ‘I give that you may give’. The current school building beside the River Esk was built in 1962, and is located adjacent to Eskdale Sports Centre and the The Buccleuch Centre for the Arts. The town of Langholm has a population of 2,400, and is known as the hometown of civil engineer Thomas Telford. As well as a secondary, Langholm Academy also has a primary school provision.
